This is a collage made with black and white prints form magazines and cello tape.
The original’s measurements are 24 x 32 cm.
This collage can be interpreted in different ways and it all resides in its title “Space Invader”: At first glance, we can see a woman wearing a white helmet that recalls the Star Wars dark force soldiers called sky troopers in reference to the fact that some men consider women as creatures from outer space. At second glance we see the gray profile of a man entering the woman’s face to invade her private space. This second reading of course refers to the famous “Me too” movement which arose in 2017 and denounces the inappropriate behavior of men towards women… But there can also be other more romantic readings to this piece showing the 40’s Hollywood star Hedy Lamarr.
On the larger versions you may see dust and weft of the prints used. this is intended and is part of the original work. However, the printable version have been retouched by the artist to erase some unwanted elements. This is color work but using différents tones of black and white prints: Some are more beige, greenish or yellowish…
